specification of Ductile iron pipe

specification of Ductile iron pipe

ductile iron socket and spigot pipes manufactured by centrifugal process to meet the requirement of International Standard ISO 2531.BSEN545

all pipes have standard2GS push on joint

the standard effective length 6.0 meters with conformity per ISO 2531

Internal coating

all pipes are lined internally with Portland cement (sulfat resistance) is applied by centrifugal process in compliance with ISO 4179. thickness of cement is according to ISO .BSEN standard

External coating;

pipes are externally coated by pure metallic zinc (minimum 99.995 purity) at the rate of 200gm/m2 which represents 50%more than requirement  of ISO 8179 .Zinc is covered 120 micron of bituminous paint

Marking

The following marking is casted on each pipe

the nominal diameter of the pipe DN-

-the type of socket STD which means standard type

an indication that the casting of the ductile iron 2GS-

data of casting -

Advantages of Ductile iron pipes

-High tensile strength, good elastic. Module and excellent ductility , making it suitable for high stress application and where pressure surge may be experienced

 - ductile iron pipe has a high corrosion resistance

-excellent hydraulic flow

-high working pressure comparing to other type of pipes

-ease of installation

-long lifetime

- can accommodate ground movement

main application of ductile iron pipes

-                                                                                          drinking and irrigation water -

fire fighting system-

transmission of gas and fuel
